Testimonials
"I was looking for a triathlon coach who could provide me with a comprehensive training plan that would include a daily workout schedule encompassing strength training and nutritional advice… all at a reasonable price. I found it with Kim DeMado.
Kim’s personal triathlon experience and expertise enable her to develop individual workouts that emphasize quality vs. quantity. She helped me prioritize my races at the beginning of the season and has provided me with specific strategies for each event. I am conquering my biggest triathlon challenge with her weekly structured ATS Track Club workouts and, as a result, am becoming a faster runner. I am starting my sixth month of ATS strength training and I completed the 12 week ATS Nutrition program last month. I have just won my first triathlon and I am stronger, leaner and faster than I’ve ever been! I owe much of my success this season to Kim and her coaching." - Anne Wilkinson, Mother of Two, Triathlete, Falmouth, ME
What’s the purpose of working out hard if we don’t allow our bodies to recover properly and thus make gains in our sport? Recovery, or regeneration as some like to call it, can take multiple forms. Proper sleep, massage, and stretching all play a role. Today we are going to talk specifically about post-workout nutrition. Many times we don’t give it the same importance as the actual workout, yet it plays a critical role in how physically prepared we are for the next training session.
Kim's Running & Tri Coaching Programs You've come to the right place to become a stronger runner in both a fun and motivating group setting. Whether a marathon runner, triathlete or recreational runner, the ATS track club provides the structured coaching necessary for optimal gains.
The program is offered every Wednesday night. Starts April 21st-September 15th, 2010. It includes weekly training on and off the track. Attention is given to technique and form cues, goal setting, pacing, racing strategies and peaking for your specific race. Individual monthly programs available for daily training too!
Cost is $20 for drop-ins, $40 a single month or $150 for all 5-months (save $75). Contact Kim at

Why single-leg strength training....?
Lower body strength training is critical for the triathlete. Not only will it help increase your flexibility and aid in endurance, but also and more importantly help prevent or minimize numerous overuse injuries that may occur while training and competing. So why is training each leg individually more beneficial to the tri-athlete than, say, performing squats or leg presses?
Co-founder of Athlete’s Training Systems, Tim DeMado, sat down with Tri-Maine owner Will Thomas to answer a few questions about the importance of strength and core training for the triathlete. See what Will had to sayabout this and what ATS can do for you.
1) Do you feel that strength training is an important component to the triathlete’s training program? If so, why and when is the best time of year for he or she to follow a strength training program? “Absolutely. Strength training is critical based on my own personal experience and also what I’ve read and seen with other triathletes. It’s important to have strength training incorporated into your training regimen year round. However, it’s really important during the off-season in the fall and winter when both your body and mind are tired of doing the same old routine, clocking all those miles and laps in the pool. Getting into a different program that emphasizes strength training as well as torso development, mobility and flexibility will get you into the early season feeling strong.
What is the number #1 component to round out your triathlon preparation? Your swim, bike and run workouts are in place, but does it end here? Could there be a missing link to reaching that PR you’ve worked so hard to achieve? How do you remain injury free to lengthen your triathlon career and thus remain healthy in the long run?
Look no further. Athlete’s Training Systems is a company that specializes in both strength training and torso development for the triathlete. The ATS Strength Training System for the Triathlete takes the endurance-based athlete to new levels physically through progressive and systematic exercise programming.
